<![CDATA[Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club - Blog]]>Tue, 15 May 2012 13:40:31 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Yup, we paddle year round]]>Sat, 24 Dec 2011 13:52:23 -0800http://www.seattleflyingdragons.org/3/post/2011/12/yup-we-paddle-year-round.htmlThe Seattle Flying Dragons went out for a long paddle this morning, Christmas Eve day.  The weather was spitting on us at around 8 a.m., but the farther we paddled the better things got.  A lovely trip up to the north end of Lake Union, under the Ship Canal brige and the University Bridge.  Saw a few rowers and an outrigger canoe out there, but the lake was mostly ours!  We continued eastward through the Montlake Cut and over to the University of Washington Waterfront Activities Center.  Saw that Husky Stadium is no longer quite the same, in preparation for its major overhaul.  Part of the roof has been collapsed and now reads "GO HU".  Interesting from water level.  So we had ourselves a mini-break and a drink of water there behind the stadium, and then did the whole trip in reverse back to the Kenmore Air Dock.

It was a great way to start Christmas weekend!  Merry Christmas everyone, from the Seattle Flying Dragons!

]]><![CDATA[Flying Dragons participation has been at record levels in 2011.]]>Mon, 19 Dec 2011 13:51:28 -0800http://www.seattleflyingdragons.org/3/post/2011/12/flying-dragons-participation-has-been-at-record-levels-in-2011.htmlThe Seattle Flying Dragons introduced more than 500 newbies to dragon boating on Lake Union in 2011!  That's a record for us.  Also a record is that we have 93 club members as 2011 draws to a close.  This record participation has been achieved thanks to the Seattle Times, the Lake Union Working Group, our web presence here and on multiple other sites, and our enthusiastic and fun paddlers.  And of course our intrepid Meetup gal Heidi and the amazing work she's done all year with recruiting! 

Rain or shine, we always have a good time -- come join us!
