Barrel Racing -- Sign Up Here!!
You don't have to be a member of an organized team! You don't have to have any equipment! We'll provide the equipment and teams will be formed on the spot on race day. Bring your sense of fun and your competitive spirit. Oh, and expect to get splashed! It's a water sport!
-- Teams will consist of ten paddlers, a drummer and steersperson. Teams will be determined by on-site name drawings from a hat. Just come yourself, and bring some paddling friends. No need to organize and bring teams.
-- Registration begins at 10 AM. Team formation is at 10:45 AM. Demo of Barrel Racing technique is at 11 AM. Racing from noon to about 4 PM, with an awards ceremony just after that at 4 PM or so.
-- No experience required. This event is all about teamwork and fun on the water.
-- Dragon boats will race individually around a triangular three buoy course in a cloverleaf pattern of turns --just like in rodeo -- except with buoys instead of barrels and no dirt or horses. The course will be less than 250 meters in total length.
-- Barrel racing times will be based on the average of three runs around the course, providing for an equal number of left/right turns.
-- All equipment will be provided, including SFDBC’s fully-rigged BuK dragon boats, paddles and PFD's. Each team will be assigned a certified steersperson if desired. Just bring yourself and your competitive spirit.
-- Cost: $7 cash or check only and payable on race day at registration. Note: There is a limit of about 12 teams.
For planning purposes SFDBC REALLY NEEDS TO KNOW if you will join us on Saturday, June 30th. Please RSVP by filling out the signup form on this page!
