Fequently Asked Quetions for Guests
How do I sign up for practice?
Please send an email to communications@seatteflygingdragons.org at least 24 hours before the scheduled session. Make sure to indicate the date and location for when you would like to attend. Your RSVP is not confirmed until you receive an email response confirming you are on the roster. We do not take walk-ins.
How long is a practice session?
Most practice sessions are 90 minutes.
Saturday practice sessions are 120 minutes.
The first 20-30 minutes of all practice sessions will be spent on land. We will issue you equipment, provide safety orientation, and demonstrate our paddling technique. After that, we will warm-up, take attendance, make seating assignments (also called benching) then load up the boat. For a 90-minute session, at least 60 minutes will be on the water. For a 120-minute session, at least 90 minutes will be spent on the water.
What time should I arrive?
Please come at the time listed on the practice schedule. Practice on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starts at 6:00 pm. Weekend practice start times vary; see our practice schedule. If you are running late, please let us know. We cannot guarantee a spot for those who arrive more than 10 minutes after the posted start time. Those who arrive late may be turned away- even if you are confirmed on the roster!
Where do I park?
South Lake Union
There is public parking in the lot on the east side of Westlake Ave N. You may NOT park in the Kenmore Air Parking lot. Parking in South Lake Union can be scarce in the summer (from June to September). Plan accordingly and allow time for traffic and to look for parking. Consider public transit.
Kenmore: park in the surface lot at the park
