FOR RACERS
Are Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) required for racers?
Yes, all paddlers including the drummer and steersperson must wear a PDF while on the boat or the docks. Persons who volunteer at a dock hand must also wear a PFD while on the dock.
What kind of paddles and PFDs are allowed?
If you are bringing your own paddle and PFD, they must meet the following specifications: All paddles must be IDBF Licensed Paddles, and all PFDs must be Type III Coast Guard Approved or Level 70 USA/Canada harmonized and must be inherently buoyant. Inflatable PFDs are not allowed.
Are paddles and PFDs provided?
Yes, paddles of various lengths and PFDs will be available to be borrowed. Please return borrowed paddles and PFDs to the marshaling area after each race.
Can paddlers be cross-rostered in the women's and mixed divisions?
We advise against cross-rostering, races will not be delayed for paddlers to transition from one racing category to another.
FOR SPECTATORS
Can I bring my dog to the festival?
Yes! Per the Seattle municipal code, dogs are allowed at public parks and must be on a leash at all times. Be aware that the park will be crowded and there will be amplified announcements and music. Please consider the temperament of your dog when choosing to bring them along. There is a children's splash pad/spray park at the southeast end of the park. Dogs are NOT allowed at the splash pad.
What rules must festival spectators follow?
This festival takes place on the City of Seattle property. Per Seattle municiple code, smoking, alcohol, cannabis, and illegal drugs are prohibited in public parks. Drones are not allowed ini or around the festival and cannot take off, land, or fly over City Park property. Personal grills and BBQs are not allowed.
