Return to Practice - UPDATE #1

6/4/2021

Great news!
The Board of the Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club has approved the COVID Task Force's recommendation to resume limited in-person practices!

SAVE THE DATE
We are aiming to start practices in mid-June, tentatively planning for June 19th as the first SLU practice and June 20th as the first Kenmore/Squire's Landing practice.  Practices will follow the club's COVID Practice Plan and is subject to change or cancellation depending on King County mandates.  We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we get back on the water.

COVID-specific rules for practices
  • For now, practices will only be open to current members who have paid membership dues, signed the membership and waiver forms, and provided up-to-date contact information. (Be on the lookout for an email about how to do all of this online or check back at this website next week.  We aren't quite ready yet!)
  • All paddlers will be asked to sign a COVID Risk Acknowledgement Form at their first in-person practice.
  • Practices will be open to vaccinated and unvaccinated paddlers. We will not require reporting of vaccination status.
  • Masks will be required for unvaccinated paddlers and optional for vaccinated paddlers.
  • RSVPs on Team Cowboy will be required to facilitate contact tracing, if necessary.  Current members - Be on the lookout for an invite to a new Team Cowboy team. You must accept the invitation to be able to RSVP to practices.
  • Paddlers will be asked to answer a verbal health screening when they arrive at practice.
  • Boats will be benched at maximum 50% capacity (no more than 10 paddlers in a 20-person boat).
  • Weekend practices will resume (8am Saturdays at SLU, 10am Sundays at Kenmore/Squire's Landing), provided there are enough paddlers RSVP'ed, and a coach and tiller are available.  Weekday practices may be added to the schedule, depending on interest.
The COVID Task Force will continue to monitor the situation and periodically update our policies to ensure that practices are in compliance with the most recent CDC and WA State guidelines.

NEXT UPDATE COMING SOON
Keep an eye on your email for UPDATE #2 with additional details. Or check back at this website next week.

Send any questions or comments to the COVID Task Force covidtaskforce@seattleflyingdragons.org.

COVID Update 5.18.2021

5/18/2021

The SFDBC Board and COVID Task Force members have received questions about when we can get back on the water. Everyone is incredibly encouraged by the wave of good news coming from the CDC and Governor Inslee. If Washington state stays on trend, we could be fully opened by June. Our COVID Task Force has been monitoring the information as it relates to masks, vaccines, social distancing, and generally speaking… COVID.

As there are still details to iron out and present to the SFDBC Board, we ask and thank you for your patience. As soon as on-the-water and off-the-water procedures are formalized and adopted, we will send out an email to club members. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email our COVID Task Force at covidtaskforce@seattleflyingdragons.org
